Case-Based Learning Collaborative on Stimulants

CASE-BASED LEARNING COLLABORATIVE ON STIMULANTS

The Center for Behavioral and Addiction Medicine (CBAM) at the UCLA Department of Family Medicine and partners, the Los Angeles County Substance Abuse Prevention and Control program and the UT Southwestern Clinical Trials Network Big South/West Node are excited to introduce the virtual series, Case-Based Learning Collaborative on Stimulants. The sessions will take place biweekly on the first and third Fridays of each month from 12:00pm – 1:00pm PT, beginning Friday, October 20, 2023.

We extend a warm invitation to physicians, nurses, physician associates, psychologists, social workers, recovery specialists, community health workers, students and anyone interested in improving the care of persons with stimulant use disorders. The course is entirely free to attend.

Friday, June 21, 2024 – A New Paradigm for Treatment of Substance Use Disorder

Session Description:

Novel therapies are being developed by Clear Scientific for life-threatening and debilitating conditions including Substance Use Disorder, caused by an excess of harmful substances in the body. This course describes CS-1103, a first-in-class sequestrant-based antidote for methamphetamine and polydrug overdose.

The objectives of the Case-Based Learning Collaborative on Stimulants are:

  • To use a case-based learning approach to share experiences, educate, and disseminate the latest evidence-based data on the use of medications and other therapies for treating stimulant use disorders.
  • To generate a network of providers and provide a reliable forum to discuss stimulant use disorders and their treatment.
  • To present the latest evidence for treatment of stimulant use disorders to guide treatment decisions and to destigmatize treatment of stimulant use disorders.
